Arizona Massage Therapy (Masage) (AZ)
What does a "Massage Therapist" do?
A Massage Therapist is one that uses manual, therapeutic techniques to massage soft tissues, in most cases muscle, that have been affected by stress, illness and/or injury. The main goal of massage therapy is to relax and also loosen muscles and their surrounding connective tissue coverings, and also relieve the painful muscle tension.
Common techniques include the Swedish massage, sports massage, hydrotherapy, deep tissue, reflexology, chair massage, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and spa treatments. Some practitioners will focus on a particular technique.
Massage Therapists practice in a variety of settings, such as private offices or clinics, chiropractors, doctors offices, with spesific sports teams, athletic clubs, resorts, yoga retreat centers, spas, golf courses, dance studios, beauty salons and cruise ships. Others may own their own practice. Some Massage Therapists have portable equipment and make house calls.
